The long-anticipated refurbishment of our Administration begins next Wednesday. This project will take the remainder of the year. Initially they will remove everything from under the building and restabilise the foundations. At the completion of the project the tuckshop will face the sails area, there will be office spaces for the Administration Team, a small meeting room, a student foyer, parent/visitors foyer, reception office, first aid room, staff/student toilet and awnings on either side.
Once the new administration area is completed some restructuring of the current office area will occur. In this space will be a dedicated area for P&C (current reception area), a space for Chappy Kylie, an office space for our Guidance Officer and Speech Pathologist, an office space for some of our specialists and a larger meeting room.
Timelines:
1. Wed 15 Sept – B Block cleared and shutdown
- Year 1Y moved to C Block Upstairs between 2/3Pand 3R.
- Year 1D moved to tables room in the Library.
- Chappy Kylie moving to Reading Room next the music room.
- P&C moved to P&C Shed
- Staffroom closed
- Tuckshop will be closed until Thursday 7 October.
- Site fencing installed.
2. Major earthworks and building stabilisation will occur during the holidays.
There will be some disruption to the entry areas of the school. There will be no access through the pedestrian gate near the tuckshop. Students on bikes and scooters will need to use the black pedestrian gate off Gympie Road.
We ask parents to remain patient as there will be some minor traffic considerations to be made during the refurbishment.
We have had our initial meetings with the contractors and were very pleased with their willingness to work with us to minimise disruption to student learning and the movement around the school.
We will provide further advice to parents at the start of Term 4.
