Reports may look a little different

This semester's reports have fewer subjects in them than this time last year.

This means that although we continue to teach as intensively as ever, we no longer over-report on student efforts, and our reporting is now in line with the P-12 Curriculum and Reporting Framework.

So as we move towards the next version of the Australian Curriculum, teachers are reporting only once a year in some subjects for some year levels.

Our curriculum plans have become more balanced over time, and we have spread the load across the year levels for different subjects so that all students get the chance to learn the content while also keeping the focus on English, Maths and Science.

For instance, (and only read this paragraph if you are a curriculum nerd) the Technologies subject area comprises of Digital Technologies and Design Technologies strands. Digital technologies content is taught in Years 2, 3 & 5, and Design technologies content is taught in Years 1, 4 & 6. Design content is also taught in Year 5 with the Forestry Rangers unit, however we are only required to report on the Design strand once during the Year 5-6 Band, and since this happens in Year 6 with the Energy-Efficient House unit we keep teacher workloads reasonable by eliminating this additional reporting task in Year 5.

German, Junior HPE, Junior HASS, and the Arts (Music, Dance, Drama, Visual Arts & Media Arts) will only be reported on at the end of the year. Everyone will definitely have English, Maths, and Science progress and achievement reports this semester, showing the focus of the curriculum and the high value we place on Literacy and Numeracy.
